- If you have a valid US or Japan visa, apply for Taiwan's TAC online — much faster than a full visa!
- EasyCard is the must-have transit card for Taipei metro, buses, and convenience stores
- Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) at Din Tai Fung are world-famous — book in advance
- Jiufen village (inspiration for Spirited Away) is 1 hour from Taipei by bus
- Hualien (base for Taroko Gorge) is 2 hours from Taipei by high-speed rail
- October-December is the best weather window — avoid July-September (typhoon season)
- Many Taiwanese people speak Mandarin and English — navigation is easy

- • From October 1, 2025: Mandatory Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online pre-registration required within 3 days before arrival
