As Germany is part of the Schengen Area, Indian passport holders require a Schengen visa for entry. This visa must be obtained before traveling. Once granted, a Schengen visa allows access to Germany and other Schengen countries. Normally, an airport transit visa is also required unless the traveler holds a valid Schengen visa, a valid visa or residence permit issued by the United States, Japan, Canada, Ireland or Cyprus, or a residence permit issued by Andorra, Monaco, or San Marino.
