Visa Details
A visa is normally required for Indian passport holders to enter the United Kingdom. The visa must be obtained before traveling. However, a visa is not required if the traveler holds a biometric Irish visa endorsed with 'BC BIVS' and has a valid Irish entry stamp. For transit: Indians with valid visas for USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand are exempt from transit visa requirements for airside transit. For landside transit, Visitor in Transit visa (£70) required unless holding valid visa/residence for USA/CAN/AUS/NZL.

Transit Through United Kingdom
Transit visa required for Indian passport holders passing through United Kingdom.
Must stay in the airport transit area.
- •Visitor in Transit visa required if going through UK border control (unless holding valid visa/residence for AUS/CAN/NZL/USA)
- •Must leave UK within 48 hours
- •Valid onward ticket
Transit visa exemptions:
Holders of valid visas from: IRL visa, US visa, Canadian visa, Australian visa, New Zealand visa
Transit visa NOT required for airside transit if holding: (1) valid Irish biometric visa (marked 'BC' or 'BC BIVS'), OR (2) valid visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or USA (whether or not traveling to/from these countries), OR (3) used visa for these countries within last 6 months. Also exempt with ETA for airside transit (temporary exemption). For landside transit (passing through border control), Visitor in Transit visa required unless holding valid visa or residence permit for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or USA.
GOOD NEWS for Indians: Transit visa exemption expanded! Airside transit (not passing border control): No visa needed if you hold a valid visa for USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Landside transit (passing border control): Visitor in Transit visa (£70) required UNLESS you hold valid visa or residence permit for USA/Canada/Australia/New Zealand. Irish biometric visa (BC BIVS) holders also exempt.
